Or should I call it a drinking hobby? Yeah, drinking hobby sounds better.
My near-miss with the Green Fairy in the Washington Post, here.
And a recipe for a pretty good cocktail, here.

Hi, Carrie -- I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your Post column -- and congratulations! I've long bemoaned the fact that women still "aren't supposed" to drink alone, so I was delighted to see the title of your column in the Post -- finally, someone speaking out about this grave injustice! And with wit and intelligence such that it led me to your blog -- that, and the fact that you live in Takoma Park, as do I. Your blog site is lovely, and I look forward to exploring it more. I have a dormant blog at the-river-blue.blogspot.com. I also wanted to share a bit of creative inspiration from Elizabeth Gilbert that you might enjoy if you haven't seen it -- I certainly did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86x-u-tz0MA
Best wishes for more successes! If you're ever looking for someone to meet for a drink at Roscoe's, drop me a line.
Best,
Linda O'Brien
Hey Linda, thank you so much for the kind comment! I'm so pleased you liked the story and it's really nice of you to take the time to say so. I can't wait to check out your blog and the Gilbert vid -- I know that "Eat, Pray, Love" got a bunch of backlash, but I LIKE Gilbert, a lot. (If you haven't read her book "The Last American Man," check it out sometime.) Thanks again for the note and hope our paths cross in person at some point!
Thanks, Carrie! Yes, don't forget to check out the Gilbert vid -- I really enjoyed it and was inspired by it. And I will check out "The Last American Man."
